Saranath Weerakoon, Ph.D., P.E., Associate
Saranath Weerakoon has over 28 years of experience in structural engineering design and construction administration. His experience encompasses a wide variety of facilities for both public and private sector clients. He has designed for new construction, existing building renovations, and repairs.
Among his many successful projects are libraries, museums, galleries, visitor centers, community centers, educational facilities, dormitories, commercial, industrial, and residential structures, and religious facilities.
Mr. Weerakoon has a B.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Peradeniya in Peradeniya, Sri Lanka, an M.S. degree in Structural Engineering from the University of South Carolina in Columbia, SC, and a Ph.D. in Structural Engineering from North Carolina State University in Raleigh, North Carolina.
He is a registered professional engineer in the Commonwealth of Virginia, the State of Maryland and the District of Columbia.
Saranath is married (to another structural engineer), and has two sons, one nineteen and the other 21 years old. In his spare time, he enjoys playing tennis with his wife and sons.
