JBG Smith's "Central District"

McMullan is part of Gensler’s team as the structural engineer for JBG Smith’s “Central District” development in Crystal City, Virginia (Arlington County). In the first phase, a new 74,000 SF, street facing retail area will be built. This area will be anchored by a multi-screen theater and will also include a smaller-format, full-service grocery store. In addition, a two-story, 16,000 SF retail building will be built at the corner of 18th Street S. and Crystal Drive next to a proposed second Crystal City Metro entrance. JBG Smith is looking to start construction in the fall and have the theater open by the 2020 springtime.
