GMU Academic VII/Research III Building

This five-story, 160,000 SF academic and research building houses laboratories, classrooms, offices, a two-story atrium and auditorium style classrooms with large column free areas. The framing system is composite steel and was designed with vibration controls for sensitive equipment. The building was designed and built to achieve LEED Silver certification. Its green roof includes mechanical penthouses. The exterior facade is a combination of curtainwalls with deep horizontal solar shading, brick and captured masonry assemblies. The project also includes a two-story structure that is connected to the main building.
