The third “We are thankful… ” series showcase celebrates the ribbon cutting ceremony held in July to mark the official opening of Children’s National Prince George’s County Outpatient Center. Nearly 100 people attended the event, and ABC-affiliated television station WJLA-TV live-streamed the event on Facebook.

Its keynote was made by Dr. Kurt Newman, President and CEO of Children’s National, and it was remarked that many projects of this type had been going on hold in the region. However, Children’s pushed ahead for completion of this regional center. Brief speeches were also given by members of the State of Maryland Senate and House as well as regional politicians and administrators. The day after this ceremony (July 22), many of the facility’s clinics opened with the surgery, radiology, and infusion center opening shortly thereafter. Most importantly, this center is invaluable for both the Prince George’s County community as well as Children’s.

Over the course of 30 months, McMullan provided structural engineering services in collaboration with the Perkins Eastman DC and NY teams who led the full design team. Other team members included Bohler, SM&W, AKF Group LLC, Vizient Inc., Allegion plc, and Mitchell & Company Graphic Design. The Whiting-Turner Contracting Company was the general contractor.

McMullan_Thankful2020Final-01.jpg

To kick off McMullan’s “We are thankful… ” series to honor and celebrate our collaborations with amazing clients and teaming partners, near and far, we thought it best to start with showcasing the National Native American Veterans Memorial, which was officially opened to the public last Wednesday on Veterans Day. Our structural engineering services were provided in collaboration with Quinn Evans and other design team consultants for this project.

Each day, the McMullan team is thankful to those who have served in the military as well as those who are actively serving today. The National Native American Veterans Memorial was created to honor Native American, Alaska Native, and Native Hawaiian veterans for their service.
