Carlin Springs Elementary School

This project was Arlington County’s first new school in over 20 years. It was also Arlington County’s model “Community School” with the 88,000 SF facility used as a base to support students and their families by addressing not only academic needs, but also social, emotional, and health needs through linkages to community partners. Its 600 students enjoy a bright, comfortable and colorful environment with a 3,000 SF media center, performance areas for music, and a 4,100 SF gymnasium. McMullan provided cost-effective structural design for a combination of masonry bearing walls and composite structural steel framing.
