Franconia Buildings A & B Roof Reconstruction

Within two hours of a roof section collapse stemming from heavy snow loading, McMullan responded by conducting emergency surveys of remaining areas using multiple teams that worked extended hours. Temporary shoring was designed and installed to allow the building to be reopened. A permanent repair was designed for the collapsed area to eliminate future snow accumulations in the valleys and roof leaking. McMullan designed a new steel joist roof system for construction to flatten the roof valleys. Safety guidelines were also set for roof snow accumulation along with the grading of 1.5 million square feet of long-span bowstring trusses.
