Century Towers I & II Garage Repairs

This 200,000 SF underground garage in Crystal City had severe deterioration in both its suspended structural and on-grade slabs. McMullan determined the cause of the problems and designed two different cost-effective repair solutions. One repair comprised wall-to-wall hydrodemolition and concrete overlay. The other used a combination of hydrodemolition and cut-and-patch with some overlay. Both solutions improved the slab drainage system and allowed for the installation of a traffic bearing membrane, which is a complete system of plural-component, chemical-cured polyurethane coating with encapsulated silica sand for a non-skid surface. It is also worth noting that the garage remained open and operational throughout construction of its repairs.
