Southeast Regional Archives

The National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) is the nation's record keeper. These valuable records are preserved forever and are available when one wishes to see if they contain clues about their family’s history, needs to prove a veteran’s military service, or is researching an historical topic of interest.

The National Archives in Atlanta has about 180,000 cubic feet of archival holdings dating from 1716 to the 1980s that primarily comprise textual records; however, the holdings also include maps, photographs, and architectural drawings. This 120,000 SF steel-framed facility meets the Federal government’s standard for secure storage and holds 46,000 SF of stacks and an 80,000 SF Visitor’s Learning Center.
