Indigenous Structures
McMullan was tasked by the Smithsonian Institution to develop structural engineering standards and a user-friendly review-and-approval process for structures constructed on the Mall during the annual Folklife Festival. These structures included large temporary structures and tents. However, the most challenging aspect was to develop standards for Unique Indigenous Structures that were built with materials native to the country featured in the exhibit yet otherwise seldom, if ever, encountered in the United States.
