GVPS Founder's Hall Reconstruction

McMullan conducted a structural survey of the 38,000 SF historic education building when it was severely damaged by fire. We assessed existing structural conditions and analyzed the remaining structure for code compliance. We supervised and coordinated structural testing to verify existing footing conditions, soil bearing capacity, brick and wood strengths. We then determined the most cost-effective structural repair option that involved removing the remaining undamaged wood framing from the building and replacing it with new steel framing and a concrete floor slab. We provided the structural design for reconstruction of four floor levels, a new attic level mechanical penthouse, and mansard roof with curved, sloping roof towers.
